My first encounter with the young Buddhist monks of Sherabling Monastery was in Dec 2013 when I went there as an English volunteer teacher. Hidden in a small farming village in Chitwan, Nepal, I was overwhelmed by the resilience, joy, and peacefulness of these young monks. Even with the challenges of no desks nor beds, the young monks were eager to learn and high spirited.
This experience awakened my volunteering passion for urban-rural bridging and education. I have been fundraising and going back almost every year to volunteer. I helped the monks to get solar panels, desks, beds, and built this website to raise awareness.
